The Estelle® story began back in 1977. This was the year that Estelle® and Industry founder John O’Brien entered the frameless shower screen industry and he has been a pioneer and leader ever since.
Within a few short years he had been promoted to factory foreman overseeing people older than him and his time spent with this company gave him valuable experience in design, manufacturing, assembly, installation and sales.
John started his own business in 1986 and immediately began coming up with innovative ideas which were imitated by other Industry suppliers and are considered ‘the norm’ today by everyone in the market place. He was fascinated by product development and took the initiative of collaborating with the CSIRO to study the corrosive effects on popular metals.
All of this knowledge helped him to come up with exciting designs for shower screen hardware and these entered the market in 2002 under the new brand name, Estelle® (John’s mother’s name). The ideas flowed and so did the patents as John cemented his role in the frameless shower screen industry as the premier product developer. Estelle® hardware became known as the “Rolls Royce” range – appreciated by architects, interior decorators and discerning installers.
An important milestone was when son Steven joined the business. Today, 14 years later, he is the National Operations Director and also runs the Design Centre at Estelle®’s factory complex in Western Sydney where you can usually find him working on new prototypes.
As Estelle evolved the innovations kept on coming. There was the revolutionary Power Grab® which ensures that Estelle hinges will not allow glass doors to slip or drop out. The European, Cosmopolitan influenced Aspen, Boston and Romano ranges with their optional stylish STEALTH slide-on covers. The many exotic finishes such as: Satin Nickel, Matte Black, Gold Polish, Rose Gold, Brushed Brass (no lacquer) to name a few. The introduction of the Belle sliding door system. The installation of a customisation work shop where custom parts can be made in Sydney in minutes. More recently, John and Steven have announced the addition of an entry level range of hardware. Industry™ enables their business to tap into the lucrative property developer market place. At the same time, a new Estelle® design is about to be made public.
The business which began in John’s snooker room at home now has the resources to take the frameless shower screen industry to the next level.
