The Estelle ® story began back in 1977. This was the year that Estelle and Industry founder John O’Brien entered the frameless shower screen industry. He has been a pioneer and leader ever since.
Within a few short years he received a promotion to factory foreman. The time he spent with this company gave him valuable experience in design, manufacturing, assembly, installation and sales.
John started his own business in 1986 and immediately began coming up with innovative ideas. Many competitors have imitated these features and they are now‘the norm’ in the shower screen industry. John found product development fascinating. He took the initiative of collaborating with the CSIRO to study the effects of corrosion on popular metals.
THE ESTELLE BRAND
This knowledge and experience helped him to come up with exciting designs for shower screen hardware. These entered the market in 2002 under the new brand name, Estelle (John’s mother’s name).
Ideas flowed as John cemented his role in the frameless shower screen industry as the premier product developer. Estelle’s hardware became known as the “Rolls Royce” range. Estelle’s fixtures are appreciated by architects, interior designers and discerning installers nationwide.
Today, 18 years later, he is the National Operations Director at Estelle. John also runs the Design Centre at Estelle’s factory complex in Western Sydney. Here you can usually find him working on new prototypes.
As Estelle evolved the innovations kept on coming. There was the revolutionary Power Grab ® which ensures that Estelle hinges will not allow glass doors to slip or drop out. The European, Cosmopolitan influenced Aspen, Boston and Romano ranges with their optional stylish STEALTH slide-on covers. The many exotic finishes such as: Satin Nickel, Matte Black, Gold Polish, Rose Gold and Brushed Brass to name a few. The introduction of the Belle sliding door system. The installation of a customisation work shop in Sydney where the Estelle team can create custom parts in minutes. More recently, John has announced the launch of a premium line of hardware. At the same time, Estelle has been working on a new service that is about to be made public.
The business which began in John’s snooker room at home now has the resources to take the frameless shower screen industry to the next level.
